Souleymane Faye has rejoined Granada CF this summer, three years after his initial spell with the Andalusian side, expressing both pride and determination to make his mark in his second stint at the club.
The Senegalese striker arrives following an impressive campaign with Betis Deportivo, where he netted nine goals and contributed four assists in 36 appearances.
Speaking at his official unveiling, Faye outlined his ambition to become an influential figure for Granada and build on the promise he showed during his first period at the club.
“I really wanted to come to Granada last year,” he told 101tv.es. “We had discussions, but there were a few details that needed to be resolved. This year, as soon as they showed interest, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. I am very happy to be back at this club.”
Reflecting on his development since leaving Granada, Faye highlighted the growth he experienced both on and off the pitch. “I feel good and very proud. There has been a lot of hard work behind this return.
I learned so much during my time at Betis. I matured as a person and improved as a player. When I first came here, I was very young, and it was my first year in Spain. Since then, I’ve improved my Spanish significantly and developed my game,” he said.
Now crowned an African Under-20 champion, Faye is determined to turn his potential into consistent performances. “In this second stage, I want to prove myself and achieve great things with Granada.
At the moment, we are all being encouraged to get into the box more, because if we don’t, we won’t score. Goals are crucial—they’re what win you games,” he explained.
The 21-year-old also spoke about his adaptability on the pitch, stating that he is equally confident operating on either flank. “I’m comfortable whether I play on the left or the right. I feel at ease in both positions,” he noted.
Faye’s return to Granada has also brought a personal connection with him in the form of fellow Senegalese player Baïla Diallo, who joined from Clermont this summer.
“We get along very well because he is Senegalese like me,” Faye said. “This is his first year in Spain, so I am helping him with the language, which is very important.”
Granada, currently competing in LaLiga 2, will be hoping Faye’s pace, versatility, and attacking instinct can provide a significant boost to their campaign.
For Faye, the move represents not only a homecoming but also an opportunity to solidify his reputation in Spanish football.
With his focus firmly set on contributing goals and strong performances, the Senegalese forward enters this new chapter determined to justify the club’s faith and to establish himself as a decisive figure in their push for success this season.
