Senegalese forward Philippe Keny signs three-year deal with FC Zurich
Philippe Keny has officially joined Swiss outfit FC Zurich on a three-year contract, marking a fresh chapter in the career of the Senegalese striker following his departure from Istanbul Basaksehir.
The 26-year-old arrives in Switzerland as a free agent after parting ways with the Turkish club at the conclusion of his contract. His move to FC Zurich, confirmed on 6 August 2025, will keep him at the club until 2028 as he seeks to reignite his form in the Swiss Super League.
Keny rose to prominence during his time in Turkey, first catching the eye with Bandirmaspor before making the switch to Istanbul Basaksehir in 2022.
Over three seasons in the Turkish top flight, he gained valuable experience but saw limited opportunities in recent months, prompting a search for a new challenge.
FC Zurich now offers him a fresh platform to re-establish himself at the top level of European football. Known for his physical presence and ability to lead the line, Keny will bring added depth and power to Zurich’s attacking options as the club looks to strengthen its position domestically and in European competition.
In an official statement, FC Zurich welcomed the Senegalese forward and highlighted his potential impact on the squad. “With Philippe Keny, we are gaining a dynamic and determined striker who has proven his qualities in Turkey. We are confident he will play an important role in our offensive structure,” the club noted.
Keny, for his part, expressed enthusiasm for the new opportunity, aiming to make the most of his time in Switzerland.
The move represents not only a change of scenery but also a chance to revive the trajectory that once made him a sought-after talent in Turkey’s second and top tiers.
His signing comes at a time when FC Zurich is actively bolstering its roster ahead of the new campaign, with the club seeking to build a competitive side capable of challenging for honours. Keny’s arrival adds a fresh dimension to their attack, and the coaching staff will be eager to integrate him into their system as quickly as possible.
For the Senegalese international, the next three years present a significant opportunity to reassert himself on the European stage. The Swiss Super League, known for its physical style and tactical discipline, may suit Keny’s attributes well and offer him the consistency needed to flourish.
Having turned professional in Senegal before embarking on his European journey, Keny’s career has spanned different leagues and playing styles.
His stint in Turkey brought both challenges and learning experiences, and with that foundation, he now turns to Switzerland with renewed ambition.
As he begins this new chapter, both FC Zurich and Philippe Keny will be hoping that this partnership proves fruitful. With the 2025–26 season fast approaching, all eyes will be on how quickly the Senegalese striker can make his mark in Zurich colours.
