Everton striker Iliman Ndiaye has suffered a significant injury setback, disrupting his strong run of form this season.
The Senegalese international, who has scored eight goals in 28 appearances across all competitions, sustained a knee injury during the Merseyside derby against Liverpool, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The 23-year-old forward was forced off the pitch, and medical assessments have since confirmed that he is dealing with a medial ligament injury.
Everton manager David Moyes addressed the situation, providing an update on Ndiaye’s condition.
“It’s not looking very good at the moment. It’s probably going to last a few weeks,” Moyes said on Friday, indicating that the forward could be sidelined for an extended period.
Ndiaye’s absence comes as a major setback for Everton, as he had been a key figure in the squad following his move from Olympique de Marseille.
His performances had been instrumental in the team’s attacking setup, and his injury leaves Moyes with limited options up front.
The former Marseille player will now focus on his recovery as he aims to return to action as soon as possible.
However, with Everton entering a crucial phase of the season, Ndiaye’s spell on the sidelines could pose challenges for the Toffees.
His injury also raises concerns for Senegal, as the national team closely monitors his progress ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
