Senegalese forward Abdallah Sima targeted by Olympiakos ahead of Champions League return

Senegalese forward Abdallah Sima targeted by Olympiakos ahead of Champions League return

Olympiakos are eyeing a move for Abdallah Sima as the Greek champions begin preparations for their return to the UEFA Champions League.

The Senegalese forward, currently on loan at Brest from Brighton & Hove Albion, has attracted serious interest following a strong season in Ligue 1.

With José Luis Mendilibar’s side crowned champions of Greece and in contention for the domestic double, attention has now turned to strengthening the squad for Europe.

Club officials are reportedly prioritising reinforcements in the attacking department, and Sima’s name has emerged as a top target.

The 23-year-old has featured prominently for Brest this season, registering 12 goals and two assists across 38 appearances in all competitions.

His pace, versatility, and finishing ability have impressed Olympiakos scouts, who see him as a valuable addition for their European campaign.

Capable of playing both as a winger and a central striker, Sima fits the profile of a dynamic attacker sought by the club.

Since signing for Brighton in 2021 from Czech side Slavia Prague for a reported fee of €8 million, Sima has yet to establish himself in the Premier League.

Instead, he has gained experience across several European leagues through a series of loan spells — first with Stoke City in England’s Championship, followed by stints at French club Angers and Scottish side Rangers before landing at Brest.

Despite his nomadic journey, the Senegalese international has steadily matured, building a reputation as a reliable forward with a keen eye for goal.

His performances in France have sparked growing interest from clubs across Europe, but Olympiakos appear determined to secure his services ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Greek side, who are aiming to make a deep run in the Champions League, are keen to add players with European pedigree and strong technical attributes. Sima’s combination of youth and experience, particularly his exposure to various top-flight competitions, makes him a standout option.

Although contracted to Brighton until June 2026, the Premier League club may be open to negotiating another loan deal or a permanent transfer should favourable terms be agreed.

The prospect of regular European football and the opportunity to play a leading role under Mendilibar could prove tempting for the player.

Olympiakos are expected to accelerate talks in the coming weeks as they look to finalise their squad well before their Champions League qualifiers begin.

With Sima’s future at Brighton still uncertain and the forward reportedly open to new opportunities, a move to Piraeus remains a strong possibility.

For Sima, who has already represented Senegal at international level, a transfer to Olympiakos could offer both stability and a platform to showcase his talent on one of European football’s biggest stages.

As negotiations continue, the coming weeks will be crucial in determining whether the Greek giants can add the Senegalese attacker to their ranks.
