Senegalese Football League Imposes Severe Sanctions on Players for Occult Practices

The Senegalese Professional Football League (LSFP) has taken decisive action by sanctioning two Ligue 1 players, Souleye Gaye Faye of Diambars de Saly and Baye Modou Gaye of Guediawaye FC.

The LSFP, steadfast in its commitment to eradicate mystical practices, has introduced stringent measures prohibiting the engagement in occult rituals, often referred to as “xons,” within the stadium premises, immediate vicinity, and playing areas.

This marked the initiation of a robust stance against any actions aimed at influencing match outcomes in violation of sporting ethics.

In accordance with the new regulations, the LSFP Disciplinary Commission convened to address the transgressions of Souleye Gaye Faye and Baye Modou Gaye.

The prescribed penalties for those found guilty of attempting to influence match results contrary to the principles of fair play include a suspension from a stipulated number of matches and a fine of at least FCFA 350,000.

Following a thorough review during yesterday’s committee meeting, the LSFP officially announced that both players had been handed a two-match suspension and a monetary fine of 350,000 FCFA. Souleye Gaye Faye’s transgression involved pouring a red liquid at the entrance and on the handrail during the Derby Mbourois at Stade Caroline Faye, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

On the other hand, Baye Modou Gueye was penalized for the use of “xons” during his team’s defeat at Stade de Ngor against US Ouakam, which concluded with a 2-0 scoreline.

These sanctions underscore the LSFP’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the integrity of football competitions, sending a clear message that mystical practices will not be tolerated within the realms of Senegalese football. The league’s firm stance aims to preserve the essence of fair competition and uphold the principles of sportsmanship.
