Senegal international Malick Mbaye is making waves in the French Ligue 2 after rediscovering his form at Amiens SC.
The 21-year-old departed FC Metz in February 2025, joining fellow Ligue 2 club on loan as he seeks for regular playing time. Arriving at Metz in early 2023, the Senegal 2022 CHAN champion struggled to settle.
Over two seasons, the young forward featured in just 7 matches for Metz, spending most of his time with the reserves in National 3.
In a dramatic turn of an event, Mbaye quickly began to flourish after securing a move to Amiens.
He netted his first Ligue 2 goal on February 21 in a 1-1 draw against Rodez—just his third appearance for the club.
After a brief dry spell in March, Mbaye hit form again, scoring against AC Ajaccio (2-1), Dunkerque (1-0), and Guingamp (3-2).
In just 9 matches with Amiens, Malick Mbaye has found the net 4 times—a sharp contrast to his stagnation at Metz. With form, confidence, and consistent game time finally on his side.
Meanwhile, he is expected to return to parent club Metz at the end of his loan spell in June 2025.
