The aftermath of Senegal’s elimination from CAN 2013 continues to create upheaval within the Senegalese football community. Following the resignation of 1st vice-president Louis Lamotte the day after the defeat, three more members of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) have reportedly stepped down.
The three new resignations come from vice-presidents Moussa Diaw Dieng, Cheikh Seck, and Ibrahima Touré. According to reports, these officials resigned after being personally asked to do so by Prime Minister Abdoul Mbaye. Me Augustin Senghor, president of the FSF, revealed, “Some members of the Executive Committee indicated that the Prime Minister called them personally to ask them to resign and they did so.”
This series of resignations appears to target Augustin Senghor, who is the president of the FSF. It’s suggested that Abdoul Mbaye asked him to step down after the national team’s failure, but Senghor refused. As a result, his colleagues are said to be resigning to weaken his position. The situation in Senegal’s football administration is expected to remain tense in the coming days.
