Senegal international Nicolas Jackson unfazed by competition at Chelsea: "I have no competition"

Newcastle United have identified Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as a possible replacement for Alexander Isak, whose future at St James’ Park has become increasingly uncertain amid strong interest from Liverpool.

Sources within the club suggest Jackson is regarded as a direct successor should Isak seal what would be a British-record move to Anfield.

Isak, who has been pushing for the transfer, has seen his relationship with Newcastle deteriorate in recent weeks.

Tensions have escalated to the point where the Swedish-Eritrean forward was instructed to stay away from a club family barbecue.

Liverpool, closely monitoring the situation, already have personal terms in place but are being told no deal will be sanctioned until Newcastle secure a replacement.

That pursuit has led them to Jackson. The Magpies are preparing an offer in the region of £60 million, though Chelsea’s valuation stands closer to £80 million.

The London club are reportedly encouraging interest from other suitors, including Bayern Munich, to maintain a strong negotiating position.

Newcastle view Jackson as a stylistic fit to lead their attack if Isak departs. His pace, pressing ability, and versatility are seen as qualities that could allow a relatively smooth transition in the event of a high-profile exit.

This potential move comes during a frustrating summer for Newcastle, who have already missed out on several key targets, most recently Benjamin Sesko, who opted to join Manchester United.

The Isak saga, however, remains the most pressing issue for manager Eddie Howe and the recruitment team.

While Jackson is the priority, Newcastle are keeping alternative options in play. Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins remains of interest, although securing him would be difficult given his importance to Villa.

The club is also monitoring Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, but he is viewed more as a replacement for Callum Wilson, who has completed a move to West Ham United.
