Senegal star Ismaïla Sarr continues impressive run with brace in Crystal Palace victory over Tottenham Hotspur
Senegal international Ismaïla Sarr delivered another standout performance in the Premier League on Thursday night, scoring twice to continue his impressive run of form as his side battled Tottenham Hotspur in Matchday 29 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The 28-year-old winger once again proved decisive in front of goal, underlining his growing influence during the final stretch of the English top-flight season.
Sarr initially thought he had opened the scoring in the 29th minute after finishing off a well-worked attacking move. However, celebrations were cut short when the goal was ruled out following a lengthy VAR review, with officials adjudging the Senegalese attacker to have been marginally offside.
The disallowed goal did little to dampen his momentum. Just over ten minutes later, Sarr stepped up confidently from the penalty spot in the 40th minute, converting with composure to restore parity for his side and silence the home crowd in north London.
Buoyed by the equaliser, the visitors pushed forward again before the interval, and Sarr struck once more. The 28-year-old found space in the attacking third and clinically finished to register his second goal of the night, giving his team the advantage before halftime and capping off a brilliant individual display.
The brace further highlights the Senegal international’s resurgence in recent weeks. Sarr has now scored four goals in his last six league appearances, a sharp improvement compared to the opening phase of the 2025–26 campaign.
Earlier in the season, the winger struggled to find his rhythm, managing fewer goals across his first 13 Premier League matches. However, his recent scoring streak suggests the forward has rediscovered his confidence and sharpness in the final third.
Known for his blistering pace, direct running and ability to stretch defences, Sarr has become increasingly influential in attack as the season progresses. His ability to create chances and finish opportunities has provided a major boost for his team at a crucial stage of the campaign.
For the Lions of Teranga star, the performance against Tottenham not only showcased his quality but also reinforced his reputation as one of Senegal’s most reliable attacking threats in European football.
If his current form continues, Sarr could play an even bigger role in shaping his club’s ambitions in the Premier League while also strengthening his status as a key figure for Senegal on the international stage.
