Senegal’s Best Sportsmen of the Season: Nominees Announced for Various Categories
The National Association of Sports Press (ANPS) of Senegal has officially announced its best sportsmen for the season, following a process of selecting the top contenders in multiple categories.
In the race for Best Local Footballer (MFL), the final three nominees include Adama Mbaye from AS Pikine, who finished as the second-best scorer in the Ligue 1 with 14 goals, his teammate Sangoné Sarr, and Ibrahima Diop from Jaraaf, the top scorer of the previous season with 16 goals.
For the Ballon d’Or Senegal (BOS), the finalists are Sadio Mané of Southampton, Dame Ndoye of Lokomotiv Moscow, and Demba Bâ of Beşiktaş.
In the Best Sportsman category, basketball player Gorgui Sy Dieng is set to win the title, with fierce competition from wrestler Isabelle Sambou and African Karate champion Saliou Diouf.
The Best Wrestler category promises an exciting battle between Bombardier, who dethroned Balla Gaye II, Modou Lô, the most popular wrestler, and Ama Baldé.
As an additional highlight, the Excellence Trophy has been awarded this year to Senegal’s men’s national basketball team for their outstanding performance.
