The head coach of Senegal, Pape Thiaw, was full of praise for his players on Tuesday night after their spirited 3-1 comeback victory against England.
The Teranga Lions locked horns with the Three Lions on Tuesday in an international friendly match played at the City Group in Nottingham.
Despite an early goal from Harry Kane to give England the lead after just seven minutes, the Teranga Lions roared to come from behind to secure a 3-1 win at the end of the contest.
It was all thanks to goals from Ismail Sarr, Iliman Ndiaye, and Cheikh Sabaly.
Speaking after the match, Senegal coach Pape Thiaw congratulated his players for showing character and desire to win to overcome the England national team.
He said, “I congratulate my players for their spirit. They showed they wanted to win. Playing against these great nations allows us to measure ourselves. We have great ambitions for the World Cup.”
Senegal’s win means they are the first African side to beat England in any international football match.
