Senegal arrives in Morocco to defend U17 AFCON title

U17 Arrive

Senegal’s under-17 national team has arrived in Morocco ahead of the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations, determined to defend the title they claimed in the last edition of the tournament.

The Senegalese delegation landed in El Jadida on Thursday morning, marking the start of their campaign to retain their championship crown.

Before their departure, the squad attended a formal ceremony where they were handed the national flag by a government minister, who urged them to represent their country with pride and determination.

Title Defense in Morocco

Senegal enters the competition as the reigning champions and will be aiming to replicate their previous success.

The tournament, set to take place from March 30 to April 19, will see the Lionceaux compete in Group C, where they will face strong opposition in their quest for another title.

The team is set to open their campaign against Gambia on April 1, followed by a crucial clash with Tunisia on April 4.

They will conclude their group stage fixtures against Somalia on April 7.

These matches will be decisive in determining whether the young Senegalese side advances to the knockout stages and continues their pursuit of back-to-back triumphs.

A Legacy of Success

Senegal’s youth teams have enjoyed significant success in recent years, with their U17 side playing a pivotal role in showcasing the nation’s footballing talent.

With a disciplined squad and a determined mindset, the Lionceaux will look to uphold their country’s strong footballing tradition.

As the tournament draws closer, all eyes will be on Senegal to see if they can defend their title and further cement their reputation as one of Africa’s emerging football powerhouses at the youth level.
