Senegal have revealed their squad for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2026 qualifiers, with head coach Mame Moussa Cissé recalling star midfielder Ndeye Awa Diakhaté after a long injury layoff.
The Lionesses are set to face Chad in a two-legged encounter as they begin their quest for a place in the continental tournament.
Diakhaté Makes Long-Awaited Comeback
One of the standout selections in the squad is the return of Diakhaté, a key figure in Senegalese women’s football, who has been sidelined since July 2023 due to injury.
Her last appearance for the national team came in a match against Algeria.
Cissé will be hoping her presence can provide a boost as Senegal aim to secure qualification for the prestigious competition.
Key Fixtures in the Qualification Campaign
Senegal will take on Chad in the first leg on February 21 in Abidjan at 16:00 GMT, before hosting the return fixture in Thiès on February 26 at 17:00 GMT.
With high stakes in the qualifiers, the Lionesses will be looking to make a strong statement as they push for a spot in the 2026 Women’s AFCON.
