Senegal international Ibrahim Niane has received a two-year ban in France over his failed drug test.
The 26-year-old attacker, who plies his trade for Angers was slapped with the hefty ban after testing positive for ecstasy and MDMA in March 2025. Niane was unable to justify to the French Anti-Doping body the drugs in his system.
However, Niane will not be allowed to participate in football in any professional capacity, and will be banned from training and also training courses.
Niane’s contract with Angers is expected to expire in June, but has yet to receive contract renewal offer from the club.
Having been ban from football, the Senegal attacker would likely not receive any contract renewal offer from the club.
Last season, he played thirty times for the club in their promotion bid from Ligue 2, however, he finished the campaign without scoring a league goal.
This season, he bettered that tally, playing 27 times and scoring three goals in the league as Angers maintained their place in the top flight of French football.
