Selaelo Rasebotja: Orlando Pirates South African winger linked with surprise Siwelele FC move

South African right midfielder Selaelo Rasebotja of Orlando Pirates is being linked with a switch to Betway Premiership rivals Siwelele FC, according to the latest transfer listings.

The 25-year-old, born in Mahwelereng, Limpopo, is currently valued at around 100,000 (100k) and is listed as moving from Pirates to Siwelele FC with the probability of the deal still marked as ?. With no public contract expiry date recorded for his stay at Orlando Stadium, it remains unclear whether Siwelele would negotiate a fee or wait to see if he could become available as a free agent.

Rasebotja, a rightfooted wide midfielder who wears the No 31 shirt, joined Orlando Pirates from SuperSport United on 1 July 2024 after progressing through SuperSports reserves. Before that he came via the Transnet School of Excellence, underlining a pathway firmly rooted in South African development structures.

His market value has fluctuated sharply in recent seasons. While at SuperSport United his valuation climbed from 25,000 in early 2021 to a peak of 200,000 in June 2024. After his move to Pirates, it briefly rose again to 250,000 in May 2025 before dropping to 150,000 later that year and then to 100,000 in June 2026, the figure now referenced in the current speculation.

The rumour, dated 3 July 2026 and sourced from Transfermarkts Betway Premiership pages, does not specify terms or timeline and lists no agreed fee. There is also no disclosed clause indicating when his existing deal in Soweto is due to end, leaving open the possibility that contract status could influence whether any move happens this window or further down the line.

If a transfer to Siwelele FC does materialise, it would mark the next step in Rasebotjas career within South Africas top flight and offer another test of his ability to rebuild and enhance his reputation after a volatile period in the market.
