Seif Darwish on verge of Al Hussein Irbid reunion as Polish-based winger seeks to boost Asian Cup hopes

Seif Darwish is close to sealing a return to Al Hussein Irbid, with the Poland-based winger expected to rejoin the Jordanian Pro League club in the current summer transfer window as he looks to strengthen his chances of making Jordan’s squad for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

The 23-year-old, who became the first Jordanian player to turn professional in Poland, is in advanced talks to complete a move back to his former side, having chosen Al Hussein Irbid ahead of other suitors from both Poland and Jordan.

Darwish, currently on the books of Polish club Stal Mielec, spent last season on loan at Stal Rzeszow in the country’s first division. He initially joined Stal Mielec last summer on a free transfer.

Kooora understands that Darwish received offers from several Polish clubs, in addition to two formal proposals from Jordan – one from Al Hussein Irbid and another from Al Faisaly. The player opted for a return to Al Hussein Irbid, where he won the Jordanian league title in the 2022-23 season and enhanced his reputation as one of the country’s standout emerging talents.

Contract details close to completion

Darwish is expected to sign his contract with Al Hussein Irbid within hours, with only final details of the agreement left to be confirmed between the parties.

The winger’s priority in returning to the Jordanian league is to catch the eye of new national team head coach Badou Zaki, with the aim of earning a place in Jordan’s squad for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.

Agent: ‘His first season in Europe was excellent’

Tadeu Martins, Darwish’s agent, said the player’s debut campaign on the continent had underlined his potential at a higher level.

“كان الموسم الاول لسيف في اوروبا مميزا للغاية. انه لاعب يمتلك طاقة فريدة داخل الملعب، وانا مقتنع بانه سيصبح قريبا احد افضل اللاعبين في منطقة الشرق الاوسط”، قال مارتينز في تصريحات لموقع كووورة.

Martins revealed that a further move within Poland had been lined up before circumstances changed at club level.

واضاف: “مالك نادي ستال ميليتس توصل الى اتفاق مع احد اندية الدرجة الاولى في بولندا، لكن بعد مواجهته بعض المشكلات وتركه منصبه، لم يعد من الممكن اتمام الصفقة”.

He explained that alternative options were then assessed, with the timing ahead of the continental finals playing a significant role.

وواصل: “كما كانت لدينا ايضا عروض اخرى مطروحة، لذلك كان علينا تقييم الخيار الافضل لسيف بعناية، خاصة في عام يسبق بطولة كاس اسيا”.

Return seen as boost to national team prospects

Martins believes a move back to the Jordanian Pro League and to Al Hussein Irbid in particular can help Darwish stay firmly in the thoughts of the national team staff.

واوضح مارتينز ان العودة الى الاردن قد تكون مفيدة للاعب، لانها ستمنحه فرصة اللعب الى جانب لاعبين محتملين في المنتخب الاردني، والبقاء قريبا من اجواء المنتخب.

He said he had held detailed discussions with Darwish about the next step in his career, stressing that while he advises closely, the final decision rests with the player.

وتابع: “جلست مع سيف وتناقشنا حول ما سيكون الافضل لمستقبله. بالطبع، بصفتي وكيل اعماله، اهتم كثيرا بمسيرته، وهو يعتبرني بمثابة اخ اكبر له. لكن القرار النهايي يكون دايما قراره هو”.

Martins added that Darwish had turned down a rival Jordanian club in order to respect the feelings of Al Hussein Irbid supporters.

واختتم مارتينز تصريحاته بالقول: “تلقينا عرضا من ناد اردني منافس، الامر الذي كان من الممكن ان يتسبب في ايذاء مشاعر جماهير الحسين اربد، لكن درويش رفض اتخاذ هذا القرار احتراما لهم”.
