The Moroccan sports channel “Arriyadia” has announced that the second edition of the African Football League will not take place until 2025. This information was shared on their official Facebook page, where they confirmed, “The competition will not take place before 2025,” in reference to the scheduling of the next African Football League tournament.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had previously expressed its readiness to organize the second edition of the African Football League. This follows the inaugural edition, where Wydad Athletic Club secured the runner-up position.
Despite the initial enthusiasm and preparations, logistical and scheduling challenges have pushed the event to a later date.
CAF, in a statement on their social media platforms, reiterated their commitment to the league’s future.
“We are working on the next edition of the African Super League.
We will update you with the latest developments soon,” the post read, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to ensure a successful continuation of the competition.
The delay to 2025 allows CAF more time to refine and enhance the structure of the tournament, ensuring it meets the highest standards of organization and competition.
The decision reflects the complexities involved in coordinating such a significant event across the continent, involving multiple teams, venues, and logistical considerations.
