Sebastian Tounekti winner seals Tunisia friendly victory over Haiti
Tunisia edged Haiti 1-0 in a hard fought friendly at BMO Field in Toronto, continuing their preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mexico, USA and Canada.
Sebastian Tounekti struck the only goal in the eighth minute, firing a right footed effort into the top centre of the net after a neat assist from Ismaël Gharbi.
Haiti struggled to recover from the early setback but grew into the game after the break, helped by a flurry of attacking substitutions, including Duckens Nazon and Wilson Isidor at half time. The CONCACAF side pushed Tunisia back for long spells yet could not find a way past a disciplined defence.
Their hopes of a late equaliser vanished deep into stoppage time when midfielder Danley Jean Jacques, already booked on 59 minutes, received a second yellow card for another heavy challenge and was sent off. Tunisia calmly saw out the final moments against ten men to secure a morale boosting win.
Both coaches will treat the contest as a valuable test as they fine tune squads for the World Cup, with Haiti and Tunisia each set to continue their friendly schedule in the coming international windows.
