France forward of Cameroonian descent, Kylian Mbappe, has refused the assertion that he is a better player than Ronaldo Nazario and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The attacking sensation scored a brace on Saturday evening, propelling Real Madrid to secure a 2-1 win against Villarreal in the Spanish La Liga.
The two goals saw Mbappe overtaking Ronaldo Nazario in terms of goals scored in his debut season.
Mbappe is also just seven goals away from overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of goals scored in his debut Real Madrid season.
Speaking on the achievement, Kylian Mbappe argued that it does not mean he is better than the two players, insisting that they are legends of the game.
“They’re legends who have defined an era. It’s important, but it’s all about numbers. If I score more goals than Ronaldo and Cristiano, it doesn’t mean I’m bigger; it just means my first season is going better,” the Frenchman said.
Mbappe continued, “The important thing is helping out and winning titles. Scoring goals is important, but even more so if we win La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey.
Mbappe, 26, now has 31 goals in 44 matches in all competitions after signing for Real Madrid from PSG last summer
