'Scoring in defeat brings little joy' - Noni Madueke after Chelsea's loss to Manchester City

Noni Madueke acknowledged that scoring in the defeat to Manchester City provided only a slight consolation, emphasizing that the feeling is far less gratifying compared to winning.

The English-winger of Nigerian descent opened the scoring at the Etihad Stadium after taking advantage of a mistake by City’s new signing, Khusanov.

However, Manchester City quickly overturned the deficit, ultimately winning the match 3-1 through goals from Josko Gvardiol, Erling Haaland and Phil Foden.

“We press every game; that’s when we are at our best. We executed that strategy and managed to get the first goal,” Madueke explained after the match. “But scoring goals when you lose doesn’t bring the same satisfaction as winning.”

The young forward expressed his disappointment with the overall result, stating, “It feels hard, for sure. We aimed to win the game, but the way we lost made it particularly tough to accept.”

Looking ahead, Madueke and his Chelsea teammates are determined to move past this setback.

They are set to face West Ham United at Stamford Bridge next week and are focused on securing three points.

“We’ve got another game against West Ham at the Bridge, so we’ll try and get three points and bounce back,” he concluded.
