FC Schalke 04 have reached an agreement to sign Germany-born midfielder of Moroccan descent Soufiane El-Faouzi.
The club is now close to wrapping up a deal to secure the services of the youngster as part of preparations for the 2025/26 football season.
Schalke have so far announced one signing this summer, with Timo Becker arriving on a free transfer from Holstein Kiel. Now, the Royal Blues are set to add El-Faouzi as their second recruit.
According to Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, Schalke have reached a verbal agreement in principle with the versatile attacking midfielder. The club is reportedly leading the race to sign the 22-year-old from Alemannia Aachen.
El-Faouzi is expected to sign a contract with Schalke running until 2029, with a transfer fee of around €400,000 currently under discussion.
While talks between Schalke and Alemannia Aachen are ongoing, the final details of the deal remain to be ironed out.
El-Faouzi enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 campaign, featuring in 41 matches for Aachen, where he contributed four goals and ten assists.
He is now set for a big switch to Schalke, which will be a major step in his career.
