Sayed Abdel Hafeez slams Al Ahly’s league meeting blunder
Sayed Abdel Hafeez, once the director of football at Al Ahly, didn’t hold back when he addressed the fallout from the canceled league clash against Zamalek, originally set for March 11 in the league.
The Red Devils’ no-show left a mark, and Abdel Hafeez called it a messy situation that dragged everyone down. Speaking on the “Football with Fayek” show on MBC MASR 2, he painted a picture of Egyptian football caught in a whirlwind of disorder, a scene he said you’d never catch in Arab or European leagues.
He didn’t mince words, stating, “All parties are at fault in this crisis, including Al Ahly, and there is a clear dispute between the Egyptian Football Association and the Clubs Association.”
Abdel Hafeez noted how both Zamalek and Al Ahly have pulled out of matches before, hinting at deeper tensions over rules. As a diehard Al Ahly supporter, he demanded answers.
“If Al Ahly made the right decision, why were they considered losers? The reasons that prompted the club to take this decision must be clarified,” he pressed.
“I always object to the refrain that Al Ahly has 44 league titles and does not care about the current version. I want to get my rights if I have the right.”
