Moroccan officials involved in the joint bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup have dismissed reports claiming the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has been selected as the venue for the tournament’s final.
This follows a report by Spanish outlet Marca, which claimed that an agreement has been reached between Real Madrid officials and FIFA for the iconic stadium to host the showpiece match.
Speaking to Kooora, Moroccan sources clarified, “The joint bid with Portugal and Spain is being coordinated at the highest level.”
“Important decisions are not made based on newspaper clippings, but rather are decided within the halls of the FIFA Congress.”
The sources emphasised that no final decision has been made regarding the stadium, adding that discussions will take place among the host nations in a spirit of mutual respect.
“Nothing has been decided yet, and the matter will be discussed between the host countries in an atmosphere filled with appreciation and respect.”
“Marca newspaper has promoted this matter before, and these are just speculations that have no connection to reality,” she concluded.
The 2030 World Cup will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
