Former Cameroon coach Marc Brys has raised questions about a “strange” connection between FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o and FIFA chief Gianni Infantino.
Brys was unexpectedly dismissed by Eto’o ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), prompting him to launch legal action over what he calls an unfair termination of his contract.
In an interview with Belgian outlet Sporza, Brys challenged FIFA’s lack of response, directly pointing to the relationship between Eto’o and Infantino.
“Gianni Infantino must act as president of FIFA, but he has a weird relationship with Eto’o,” he said, adding that the situation goes beyond a personal feud.
“Is it him or me? No, I still have to laugh. Eto’o is carried by everyone,,” Brys remarked, dismissing suggestions that the issue is simply a clash of personalities.
Despite his frustrations, Brys said he is standing his ground on principle rather than emotion.
“You must not let your emotions guide you too much,” he said. But his conclusion is blunt.“What they are doing is trivial. It’s very amateur. This cannot happen at this level. You cannot tolerate this,” he added.
Meanwhile, under new coach David Pagou, Cameroon will meet Morocco in the AFCON quarterfinal later today at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, with kick-off set for 19:00 GMT.
