Samuel Chukwueze boost for Fulham ahead of crucial Spurs showdown

Fulham could be handed a major attacking lift ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, with Samuel Chukwueze edging closer to a return after recovering from a minor calf injury that ruled him out of last weekend’s victory over Sunderland.

The Nigerian winger missed the trip to the Stadium of Light as a precaution after picking up the problem in training, but head coach Marco Silva has confirmed the forward has rejoined sessions this week and is back in contention for selection at Craven Cottage.

The development comes at a crucial stage of Fulham’s campaign as they prepare to face a Tottenham side still battling for consistency.

“Sasa (Lukic), Samuel Chukwueze and the others have been in and out of contention, but they’ve had a good week. (Antonee) Robinson is back in sessions with the team,” Silva said. “We have another session and we’re going to make a decision after that.”

Chukwueze’s possible return offers Silva renewed attacking balance, particularly on the right flank where Fulham have lacked directness in his absence. Since arriving on a season-long loan from AC Milan last summer, the 26-year-old has steadily grown into a key component of the Cottagers’ forward play, combining pace, creativity and penetration in wide areas.

Despite limited appearances earlier in the season due to fitness interruptions, the Nigeria international has delivered tangible impact, registering three goals and four assists in 13 Premier League outings. His ability to stretch defensive lines and create isolation situations has added a different dimension to Fulham’s attacking structure, especially in transition phases.

Silva has carefully managed Chukwueze’s workload throughout the campaign, opting against rushing him back from minor setbacks. The cautious approach now appears to be paying dividends, with the winger expected to be available just as Fulham enter a demanding run of fixtures.

Sunday’s encounter also carries psychological significance. Fulham have enjoyed positive results against Tottenham in recent meetings, and the potential return of one of their most unpredictable attackers strengthens hopes of maintaining that momentum.

A final decision on Chukwueze’s involvement will be made after Fulham’s last training session, but signs increasingly point toward a timely comeback that could influence the contest against Spurs and restore further attacking fluency to Silva’s side.
