Samuel Bamba’s anticipated transfer to Standard Liège fell through at the last minute, leaving the 20-year-old winger stuck at VfL Bochum for now.
The deal, which seemed on track, collapsed on deadline day, as confirmed by Funke Sport.
The primary reason for the breakdown was Standard Liège’s inability to offload a player in time—a key condition for Bamba’s arrival. With the transfer window now closed in Belgium and several other leagues, the move is off the table.
For Bamba, the situation means remaining at Bochum, where he is under contract until 2027. However, his playing prospects appear bleak. He has made just four competitive appearances for Bochum, never featuring in the starting lineup. Under current coach Dieter Hecking, Bamba has even been left out of the squad on seven occasions.
With limited opportunities at his current club and the failed transfer leaving him in limbo, Bamba faces an uncertain path ahead as he looks for a breakthrough.
