Samir Malaab makes SC Rheinbach switch after SSV Merten exit
German-Moroccan winger Samir Malaab has joined SC Rheinbach from SSV Merten on a free transfer, completing a move that takes the 27-year-old into the Landespokal Mittelrhein campaign.
Malaab, who plays on the left wing and favours his left foot, joined Rheinbach on 1 September 2026. He has agreed a contract running until 30 June 2027, with the club competing in the Landesliga Mittelrhein 1.
The move ends his two-year spell with SSV Merten, whom he joined from Bonner SC in July 2024, also on a free transfer. Malaab made one appearance for SSV Merten in the 2026-27 season before switching clubs, playing 11 minutes in the Mittelrheinpokal.
Born in Bonn, Malaab began his football career with Buschdorf before joining Bonner SC’s youth system in 2008. He progressed to the club’s under-17 and under-19 sides, although he also spent a period without a club during the 2017-18 season.
He returned to football with Friesdorf’s under-19 team in February 2018 and moved into senior football with SF Ippendorf later that year. Further spells followed at MSV Bonn and SSV Bornheim before his 2022 move to Bonner SC.
Malaab’s arrival gives SC Rheinbach a left-sided attacking player with experience across clubs in the Bonn area. His career has remained centred in the region, with Rheinbach becoming his latest destination after spells at SSV Merten, Bonner SC, SSV Bornheim, MSV Bonn and SF Ippendorf.
The transfer was completed without a fee, and Malaab is now contracted to SC Rheinbach until the end of June 2027.
