Ajax are monitoring NEC Nijmegen winger Sami Ouaissa ahead of a possible summer move from the Eredivisie rivals.
The 21-year-old right midfielder, who holds Dutch and Moroccan nationality, has emerged as a transfer target for the Amsterdam club, with speculation intensifying despite no confirmed fee or probability rating for the deal (“?”). Ouaissa is currently valued at €2.50m on Transfermarkt, a figure that is likely to frame any negotiations should Ajax decide to formalise their interest.
Ouaissa only returned to NEC from a loan spell at Roda JC Kerkrade in June 2024, having initially left Roda’s first team for Nijmegen in January 2024 before being sent back on loan the following month. His rise in market value – from €50,000 in October 2022 to €2.50m by December 2025 – underlines the rapid development that has brought him to the attention of one of Dutch football’s traditional giants.
The left-footed right-sided midfielder, born in Hoensbroek on 2 October 2004 and standing at 1.86m, came through the Roda JC youth system, progressing from their U17s to U18s, then U21s, before breaking into the senior side in the Eerste Divisie. That grounding in Dutch professional football has been followed by his step up with NEC in the Eredivisie, where his form has driven his valuation upward over the past two seasons.
NEC have not disclosed the length of Ouaissa’s current deal and there is no public record of its expiry date, leaving open the possibility that he could move later in his career as a free agent should no agreement be reached. For now, any Ajax approach would need to persuade NEC to cash in on one of their most promising assets.
As interest from Amsterdam grows, a switch to Ajax would represent a major staging post in Ouaissa’s career and could define his reputation as one of the most intriguing young wide players in Dutch football if the transfer ultimately materialises.
