Following his impactful goal against Leicester City in the English Premier League, Sam Morsy, the Ipswich Town player and Egyptian national team member, delivered a heartfelt message in solidarity with Palestine.
Morsy played a pivotal role in Ipswich Town’s draw against Leicester City, with both teams securing one goal each in the 24th round of the English top-flight league.
Scoring the equalizer in the final minutes of the match, Morsy’s shot, deflected by a defender, found the back of the net.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Morsy stated, “While the ordeal continues in Palestine, we feel honored to be here in front of 30,000 fans with this fantastic team.”
He added, “We enjoy what we do and are grateful to be in this position. We are fortunate to play football for a living.”
The 32-year-old star of the Egyptian national team has participated in 23 matches for Ipswich Town this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
Sam Morsy is part of Egypt’s preliminary squad for the upcoming African Cup of Nations 2023, set to take place in January next year.
Morsy’s goal on the field is not just a testament to his skills but also a symbol of solidarity with those facing adversity, echoing the sentiment that football extends beyond the pitch and has the power to convey messages of unity and support for global causes.
