Salomon Kalou Linked with Hertha Berlin Amid Transfer Speculation
Salomon Kalou could be set for a move to Hertha Berlin, as the Lille striker was reportedly in the German capital this week to discuss a possible transfer with Hertha’s management, according to German media outlet Bild.
Kalou’s potential arrival at Hertha comes amid ongoing speculation about his future at Lille. The forward has been linked with other Bundesliga clubs such as Borussia Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg in recent weeks, but it now appears Hertha Berlin could be the destination.
However, Lille’s head coach René Girard has expressed frustration at media reports suggesting Kalou has been pushed out of the French club. Speaking at a recent press conference, Girard criticised what he described as “a lot of bullshit being written” about the striker’s situation.
“When you don’t know, you keep quiet,” Girard stated firmly. “We can still have our own secret garden and sort this out between us.”
Girard dismissed claims that Kalou’s presence in the stands during recent matches indicated any issues. “It’s not because Salomon was in the stands that we should write nonsense. There is no wrongdoing towards him,” he insisted.
The Lille coach also addressed Kalou’s transfer prospects, acknowledging that the striker has an exit option but emphasising that the club’s relationship with him remains positive.
“He has an exit pass, it’s nothing new,” Girard said. “There is no Kalou problem. If he is still with us, he will be respected, and if he leaves, it won’t be because we pushed him out.”
Kalou, who has been a key player for Lille in recent seasons, has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe. His potential move to Hertha Berlin would represent another step in his career and highlight the Bundesliga club’s ambitions.
As talks continue, both Lille and Hertha Berlin are expected to keep negotiations confidential, focusing on reaching an agreement that suits all parties.
