Mohamed Salah remains within touching distance of Premier League history as Liverpool prepare for their final match of the season against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
The Egyptian forward is just one goal involvement away from equalling the record for most combined goals and assists in a single league campaign.
Salah appeared destined to break the record comfortably just two months ago, having registered 27 goals and 17 assists in just 29 appearances.
However, a recent dip in output has left him stranded on 28 goals and 18 assists, narrowly missing the milestone with just one fixture left to play.
His opportunity to seal the record slipped further from reach following a missed chance in Monday’s defeat to Brighton.
Nonetheless, Salah remains focused and hopeful of setting a new benchmark in front of the home crowd on the final day.
“Hopefully I’m going to break [the goal involvements record] soon. It’s something pushing me forward to just keep going and keep working hard,” Salah said in a recent interview.
While Liverpool’s title hopes have already been sealed, all eyes will now be on Salah’s individual pursuit.
His performance against Crystal Palace could define a remarkable personal season and secure his place in the Premier League’s statistical history. His quest continues Sunday.
