Liverpool manager Arne Slot has spoken about the extraordinary numbers Mohamed Salah posted during the 2024/25 season, tempering expectations as the Egyptian forward prepares for his tenth year at Anfield.
In an interview with The Athletic, Slot reflected on Salah’s remarkable output while urging for a realistic outlook moving forward.
Salah, 32, finished the campaign with a staggering 33 goals and 23 assists in all competitions—a level of consistency and productivity few in Europe matched.
The Dutch coach, who took over managerial duties at Liverpool, acknowledged the brilliance of those numbers but stressed they should not become a rigid benchmark in seasons to come.
“Yeah and standards he’s probably not going to live up to in the upcoming two seasons,” Slot said, when asked about Salah’s recent form.
“I hope he can, but it’s not even necessary. Even if he scores and assists a few less, it will still be a great season.”
Despite setting what many view as near-unattainable standards, Slot is confident Salah’s drive remains intact.
“But I know Mo, he’s going to try to achieve even more. He’s going to work so hard every single day to do even more special things for this club.”
Salah’s recently signed contract extension will see him remain at Liverpool for another two years, marking a decade of service to the Merseyside club.
His long-term commitment offers stability to Slot’s project while keeping one of the club’s most iconic figures at the heart of the team’s plans.
