Despite the absence of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who departed for Dortmund and was replaced by Romain Hamouma, AS Saint-Étienne demonstrated a strong performance.
Christophe Galtier, the ASSE coach, expressed his satisfaction, stating on the club’s website: “The objective has been achieved. We scored three goals without conceding. I am very satisfied. We have a nice advantage but nothing is certain. We will have to be serious and diligent in the return match and try to score an away goal.
