The relationship between Saint-Etienne and Faouzi Ghoulam has undergone a positive transformation. Last summer, the Algerian player was excluded from the professional group after expressing a desire to leave, straining his ties with the team. However, his recent comments at a press conference this Friday indicate a significant shift.
“I feel at home in Saint-Etienne, but that’s normal because I’m from Saint-Etienne. I can’t feel better than here. Not only will I finish the season at Saint-Etienne, but if I could end my career there, that wouldn’t be bad either,” he revealed.
Despite his earlier exclusion, Ghoulam has become a key player for Saint-Etienne this season with 13 starts, impressing his coach with his performances.
“If he wants to finish his career at Saint-Etienne, it is to his credit. In any case, I see him happy in the locker room and with his teammates. He’s had a good first part of the season. I am satisfied with what he is doing,” commented Christophe Galtier about the player’s current situation.
