Sael Kumbedi: Feyenoord eye move for Wolfsburgs FranceDR Congo right-back

France-DR Congo defender Sael Kumbedi, 21, is being linked with a summer move from German side Wolfsburg to Dutch champions Feyenoord, with the Eredivisie club reportedly monitoring the right-backs situation closely.

Kumbedi, who currently plays in Germanys 2. Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and wears the number 26 shirt, is valued at 12.00m on Transfermarkt, a figure that is expected to frame any negotiations. His contractual details in Wolfsburg have not been made public, leaving open the possibility that he could run down his deal and later move as a free agent if no agreement is reached.

The rumour, dated 3 July 2026, lists the probability of a transfer as ?, underlining that talks are at an early and speculative stage rather than approaching completion. No fee or formal bid has been disclosed, and there is no indication yet of whether a permanent transfer or loan would be pursued.

Kumbedi joined Wolfsburg permanently on 1 January 2026 after an initial loan spell from Olympique Lyon that began on 28 August 2025 and ended on 31 December 2025. Since moving to Germany his market value has climbed sharply, rising from 9m in December 2025 to 12m by March 2026 and remaining at that level in the latest update at the end of May.

Born in Stains on 26 March 2005 and standing at 1.75m, Kumbedi is a right-footed specialist at right-back and is listed with dual nationality for France and DR Congo. He came through the Le Havre academy structure, progressing from AC Le Havre Youth to the U17 and U19 sides before stepping into senior football with Le Havre AC and then moving to Lyon in August 2022.

His rise has been marked by significant valuation jumps at Lyon, where he moved from 200k in June 2022 with AC Le Havre U19 to 12m just a year later in June 2023, before some fluctuations and a renewed upward curve ahead of his Wolfsburg move. That trajectory helps explain Feyenoords interest as they scan the market for attacking full-backs.

Kumbedis most recent campaign with Wolfsburg included second-tier German fixtures, such as a late-season match against promotion contenders where he featured at right-back in a narrow defeat, underlining his status as a regular in a rebuilding side. While detailed statistics from that fixture are not listed, his continued selection has coincided with his stable 12m valuation.

Any switch to Rotterdam would see Kumbedi take his first step into the Eredivisie after spells in Frances youth and top divisions and now German professional football. If a deal can be agreed, the move would offer the 21-year-old a fresh competitive environment at a club with regular European ambitions, and could further define his reputation as one of the more highly rated young full-backs in his age group.
