Sadio Mané ends drought as Al-Nassr beat Al-Najma 5-2
Sadio Mané ended a 34-day goal drought as Al-Nassr overcame Al-Najma 5-2 in the Saudi Pro League, reclaiming momentum at the top of the table.
The Senegalese striker, who had not scored since February 28 against Al-Fayha, played a pivotal role in a dramatic first-half turnaround that set the tone for Al-Nassr’s victory.
Al-Najma initially took the lead in the 44th minute through Rakan Rajih, but the hosts responded in stoppage time before halftime.
Al-Hamdan equalised before Mané struck to give Al-Nassr the lead heading into the break.
The second half saw Cristiano Ronaldo mark his 100th appearance for Al-Nassr with a brace, taking his tally in Saudi Arabia to 96 goals and 18 assists.
Mané completed the scoring with a second goal in the 95th minute, his first brace of the season.
The Senegalese forward now has nine league goals, and 12 goals with seven assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
“This victory shows the resilience of our squad,” said a club source. “Mané’s return to form and Ronaldo’s milestone performance highlight the quality we have in the team.”
Al-Nassr’s win extends their lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League to 70 points, maintaining a six-point cushion over Al-Hilal, whose squad features defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
The league leaders now turn their attention to Saturday’s fixture against Al-Taawon, seeking to continue their strong run in the competition.
For Mané, the night represented a personal revival, while for Al-Nassr, it reinforced their status as the league’s dominant force, demonstrating both attacking depth and the ability to respond under pressure.
