Following a thrilling conclusion to the continental showpiece, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially unveiled its AFCON 2025 Team of the Tournament.
The selection is dominated by players from the finalists, champions Senegal and hosts Morocco, alongside third-placed Nigeria, underlining the influence these three nations had on the competition. Senegal and Morocco each placed four players in the final XI, while Nigeria accounted for the remaining three.
Morocco’s Yassine Bounou was outstanding between the posts and claimed the Golden Glove award. He kept a joint-high five clean sheets and played a decisive role in the hosts’ run to the final, including saving two penalties in the semi-final shootout against Nigeria.
The defence features a strong Moroccan imprint through full-backs Noussair Mazraoui and Achraf Hakimi. Mazraoui’s tactical flexibility proved vital to Morocco’s balance, while Hakimi was a constant attacking outlet down the right.
In central defence, Nigeria’s Calvin Bassey impressed with his authority in one-on-one situations and calm distribution, finishing the tournament with the most completed passes and clearances. He is partnered by Senegal’s Moussa Niakhaté, a cornerstone of the champions’ resolute back line.
Midfield is anchored by a Senegalese duo in Idrissa Gueye and Pape Gueye. Idrissa controlled tempo throughout the tournament, leading in line-breaking passes and deliveries into the opposition half. Pape provided thrust and decisive moments, memorably scoring the extra-time winner in the final.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman completes the midfield-to-attack link after registering seven goal involvements, combining creativity with end product.

Up front, Senegal’s Sadio Mané, named Player of the Tournament, leads the line after creating the most chances and contributing two goals and three assists. He is joined by Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, a relentless presence who scored four goals, and Morocco’s Brahim Díaz, the Golden Boot winner with five goals in five consecutive appearances.
