Ryan Mmaee: Atlas Guadalajara linked with move for Morocco-Belgium striker

Morocco-Belgium centre-forward Ryan Mmaee of Omonia Nicosia is being linked with a move to Mexican side Atlas Guadalajara, according to transfer listings in Cyprus and Mexico.

The 28-year-old, valued at €2.20m on Transfermarkt, is the subject of speculation over a switch from the Cypriot top flight to Liga MX Apertura, with the reported probability of the deal still listed as “?” and no agreement in place. His contractual situation at Omonia is unclear, with no expiry date publicly disclosed, prompting suggestions he could become a free agent if no extension is agreed.

Born on 1 November 1997 in Geraardsbergen, the 1.85m right-footed forward represents both Morocco and Belgium at national level and wears number 19 for Omonia. He operates primarily as a central striker but is regarded as a versatile attacking option across the front line.

Mmaee has been a regular for Omonia in the Cyprus League, featuring as a focal point in attack in recent months. In his latest outing, Omonia’s most recent league fixture before the rumour surfaced, he led the line in a match that underlined his physical presence and link-up play, even though his side were unable to turn their chances into a decisive scoreline. Detailed statistics from that game have not been made public, but scouts are understood to be tracking his form closely.

The proposed move would mark a first venture into North American football for the forward, who has built his career in European leagues. For Atlas, the opportunity to sign a player around the €2.20m bracket could represent relatively low-risk business in a competitive market.

If the transfer materialises, a switch from Omonia Nicosia to Atlas could offer Mmaee a fresh platform to reassert his value and reshape the next phase of his career on a new continent.
