Rwanda appoints Stephen Constantine as new Amavubi coach
Rwanda has appointed Stephen Constantine as the new head coach of the senior men’s national football team, the Amavubi, the country’s football federation has confirmed.
The Rwandan Football Federation announced that the experienced manager has signed a two-year contract, which includes an option for an extension.
In addition to leading the senior side, Constantine will also take charge of Rwanda’s national under-23 team.
His appointment comes as Rwanda begins preparations for the upcoming FIFA Series tournament, which will be held later this month in Kigali.
Constantine is expected to start work immediately after officially assuming his role on Monday, 16 March 2026.
According to the federation, the new coach will begin by working closely with the current technical staff and the squad as they prepare for the international competition.
The tournament will provide his first opportunity to assess the team in a competitive environment and begin shaping the squad under his leadership.
The decision to appoint Constantine marks a new chapter for Rwanda’s national team as it seeks to strengthen its performances on the international stage.
By placing the senior side and the under-23 team under the same technical leadership, the federation appears to be aiming for continuity between the different levels of the national setup.
Constantine’s responsibilities will therefore extend beyond immediate results with the Amavubi.
