South African coach Rulani Mokwena has reportedly emerged as a leading candidate to take over as head coach of Egyptian club Pyramids FC.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns boss is said to be in discussions with the newly crowned CAF Champions League winners, as uncertainty surrounds the future of current manager Krunoslav Jurcic.
Jurcic recently hinted at a possible departure, stating: “I will sit down with the club’s officials. I have great ambition, and if they share the same ambition, we will continue the project into the future,” he told Vetogate.com.
However, conflicting reports from Arabic outlet Vetogate suggest that claims of Mokwena already being in advanced negotiations with Pyramids FC are inaccurate.
Mokwena continues to be a prominent figure in North African coaching circles, especially after his brief spell at Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.
He has also been linked with a move to Zamalek, although the Cairo-based club is reportedly in ongoing talks with fellow South African coach Pitso Mosimane.
