Moroccan football powerhouse RS Berkane secured their third CAF Confederation Cup title after defeating Tanzania’s Simba SC 3–1 on aggregate over the weekend.
Berkane sealed the victory with a 1–1 draw in the second leg on Sunday in Zanzibar, having established a solid two-goal lead in the first leg.
Simba took the lead through Joshua Mutale, but Berkane’s equaliser ensured they lifted the trophy once again.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that Berkane will receive $2 million in prize money for their triumph, while Simba will earn $1 million as runners-up.
CAF lauded Berkane’s dominance in recent years, highlighting their consistency and success in continental competitions.
“Five finals in six years. Three titles – 2020, 2022, and 2025,” CAF noted in a statement. “RS Berkane are firmly establishing themselves in the African football landscape.”
This latest achievement adds to an already remarkable season for the Moroccan side, who have also clinched the domestic Botola Pro league title.
With the Cup of the Throne and the CAF Super Cup still within reach, Berkane are on course for a historic quadruple.
Berkane’s latest Confederation Cup victory solidifies their status as one of Africa’s elite clubs, with three titles and five final appearances since 2019.
Next up for the Moroccan champions is the CAF Super Cup, where they will face the winner of the CAF Champions League final between Egypt’s Pyramids FC and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, who are currently tied 1–1 after the first leg.
