RS Berkane kept their dream of a historic treble alive with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over AS FAR in their quarter-final clash on Sunday.
The match ended 1-1 after extra time, with Berkane eventually triumphing 7-6 in the penalty shootout to secure a place in the semi-finals.
AS FAR took the lead in the 34th minute through Abdel Fattah Hadraf, but Berkane equalised early in the second half courtesy of Youssef Dayo in the 57th minute.
Despite both sides pushing for a winner, the scoreline remained unchanged through extra time.
In the tense shootout, AS FAR’s Rabie Harimat and Zinedine Derak missed their penalties, while Youssef Dayo also missed for Berkane.
Goalkeeper Mounir El Mohammadi proved to be the hero for Berkane, making crucial saves to ensure their progress.
RS Berkane will now face Moghreb Tetouan in the semi-finals, after the latter secured a narrow 1-0 win over Olympique Khouribga.
Having already clinched the Moroccan League title and the CAF Confederation Cup, Berkane are now just two wins away from completing an extraordinary treble.
