Shauwn Mkhize, the owner of South African Premier League club Royal AM, is under mounting scrutiny as tax authorities move against her.
On Tuesday, officials from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) conducted a raid on Mkhize’s La Lucia residence, with reports suggesting she faces a hefty tax debt of nearly R40 million (approx. $2.2 million).
Images of police vehicles and locksmiths at the scene quickly spread across social media, sparking allegations of tax evasion.
SARS confirmed they had obtained a preservation order and search warrant from the Durban High Court to investigate the case thoroughly.
This isn’t Mkhize’s first controversy. Her club Royal AM has faced FIFA’s ire for failing to pay former striker Samir Nurkovic R15 million ($830,000) in dues.
FIFA has reportedly set a strict deadline for next week, warning that non-compliance could lead to harsher penalties beyond their current transfer ban. International observers now await further developments in this escalating saga.
