The scenario of Roy Vitoria, former coach of the Egypt national team, filing a complaint with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to obtain his dues appears to be imminent.
The origins of the crisis date back to the agreement reached between the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and Vitoria to stagger his dues, amounting to €640,000.
This came after the Football Association failed to settle the dues of his foreign assistants. An agreement was reached to divide the remaining amount into 4 installments, with the first installment due at the beginning of February.
According to sources, the Football Association declined to transfer the funds and decided to freeze the agreement, citing a need for legal review.
A source close to the Portuguese coach told FilGoal.com: “The agreement was to stagger the remaining dues over 4 months.”
The source clarified, “According to this agreement, the coach receives his remaining salary in February, and then the penalty clause is distributed over March, April, and May.”
The source concluded, “The dues for February have not been received yet, and if they are not transferred by March, we will file a complaint with FIFA.”
Vitoria departed from his position following Egypt’s elimination from the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations by the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Hossam Hassan has taken over the reins of the national team in his place, with his first task set for the upcoming international break in March.
