Rominigue Kouame joins Clermont Foot after leaving Cadiz CF

Mali and Ivory Coast midfielder Rominigue Kouame has joined Clermont Foot from Cadiz CF on a free transfer, strengthening the Ligue 2 club’s midfield options.

The 29-year-old central midfielder has signed a contract with Clermont Foot until 30 June 2027 after ending his time with Cadiz. Kouame’s move was completed on 1 September 2026, with his new club competing in France’s second tier.

Kouame began the 2026-27 season with Cadiz in LaLiga2, making two appearances and playing 93 minutes. He now returns to French football, where he previously spent much of his career with Lille and Troyes.

His last permanent move before joining Cadiz came in September 2023, when he left Troyes for the Spanish club in a €2.5m transfer. Kouame subsequently spent part of the 2024-25 season on loan at Chicago before returning to Cadiz at the end of December 2025.

The midfielder first joined Troyes from Lille in July 2021 for a reported €2.5m fee, following a loan spell at the club during the 2020-21 campaign. He helped Troyes win the French second-tier title that season.

Kouame developed at Lille after arriving from Real in 2016, having begun his career with JMG Bamako. He also had loan spells at Paris FC and Cercle Brugge during his time with Lille before establishing himself in senior football.

He is listed at 1.77m and is left-footed. His current market value is €600,000, while his highest recorded value was €5m.

Clermont Foot have therefore added a player with experience in both French and Spanish football as they begin the new Ligue 2 campaign. Kouame’s arrival follows his departure from Cadiz after three years with the club, including a spell away on loan in the United States.

Kouame’s contract with Clermont Foot runs through 30 June 2027.
