Romelu Lukaku joins Fenerbahce after Napoli spell

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has joined Fenerbahce from Napoli, giving the Turkish club a major attacking addition for the new Super Lig season.

The 33-year-old centre-forward completed the move on 12 August 2026 after one season with Napoli. No transfer fee has been disclosed.

Lukaku arrives in Istanbul with a record of sustained goalscoring across Europe’s major competitions. He has scored 85 goals in 170 Serie A appearances, while his Premier League record stands at 121 goals from 278 matches.

His spell at Napoli included a Serie A title in the 2024-25 season and the Italian Super Cup in 2025-26. Those honours added to a career that has also included league success with Inter Milan and Anderlecht, as well as domestic cup triumphs in England and Italy.

The move takes Lukaku to the Super Lig after a career that has largely been spent in England and Italy. He joined Napoli from Chelsea in August 2024 for €30.7m, following a loan spell at Roma during the previous campaign.

Before returning to Italy, Lukaku had two periods with Chelsea, including a €113m move from Inter in 2021. He also played for Manchester United and Everton in the Premier League, while his senior career began at Anderlecht.

Lukaku has been a prolific scorer for Belgium and represented his country at the 2026 World Cup. He appeared in all six of Belgium’s possible matches at the tournament, scoring three goals and providing one assist.

The left-footed forward, who stands 1.90 metres tall, now gives Fenerbahce an experienced focal point in attack. His honours include two Italian league titles, two Italian Super Cups, an FA Cup, the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2021 Serie A Player of the Year award.

Lukaku’s arrival also marks another change of club for a player whose previous career moves have included permanent transfers and loans involving Chelsea, Inter, Roma, Manchester United and Everton.

The completed transfer makes Fenerbahce Lukaku’s latest club after his move from Napoli on 12 August 2026.
