Romario picks Lamine Yamal over Vinicius in talent debate
Brazil legend Romario has weighed in on the growing debate over who is the brighter star between Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal and Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, after both enjoyed outstanding seasons in Spain.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by former goalkeeping great Iker Casillas, the ex-Barcelona striker made his preference clear.
When Casillas asked him to choose between the two, Romario replied: “I choose Lamine.” He went on to explain that he “likes him a lot” and sees the teenager as one of the most gifted players of the new generation in world football.
Romario highlighted that Yamal is already thriving at a major club and enjoys strong respect in the dressing room, something he believes will help the youngster build a truly exceptional career. The World Cup winner stressed that Yamal’s teammates know he can change games and treat him accordingly.
The Brazilian icon also praised the winger’s “extraordinary” technique and pointed out that, on top of his flair, he has the composure and instinct to score important goals, cementing his view that Yamal can dominate the sport for years to come.
