Ivorian striker Romaric Moussa Ouattara is set to make his much-anticipated return to action for MC Algiers during the second half of the season.
The young forward has been sidelined since May following a severe cruciate ligament injury sustained during a match against Khenchela.
Ouattara, who joined the club in the winter transfer window last season, has faced a long and challenging recovery process.
His journey has included surgery, rehabilitation, and a gradual reintroduction to athletic activities.
Speaking on the club’s official website, Ouattara shared his excitement about his impending comeback.
Thank God, I am finishing my rehabilitation phase and the final stage before rejoining the group,” he said. “It has not been easy, but I made sacrifices, and now I can confidently say that I am ready to return to the field very soon.”
Adapting to life in Algeria was initially difficult for the Ivorian forward, but he credits teammates Zougrana and Dao for helping him adjust to his new environment.
It was a bit difficult at first, but having Zougrana and Dao by my side made it easier to adapt to my new life,” he explained.
Reflecting on his six months away from football, Ouattara acknowledged the mental toll of being sidelined without knowing when he would return.
Fortunately, the club never abandoned me,” he said. Despite being unable to play, Ouattara accompanied the team on trips and closely followed their preparations, both in Algeria and abroad, which he believes helped him stay mentally strong.
Among his memories with MC Algiers, Ouattara highlighted two matches that stand out.
The game against CS Constantine, where I made a decisive impact, and the one against PAC, even though I didn’t score, are moments I cherish,” he said.
Now looking ahead, Ouattara is determined to make an impact upon his return. “My goal is to score in every match I play and bring joy to our fans,” he declared.
The striker, whose contract with MC Algiers runs until June 2028, is eager to reunite with his teammates and contribute to the club’s success in the remainder of the season.
Ouattara’s resilience and commitment have been evident throughout his recovery, and his return is sure to be a boost for MC Algiers as they prepare for the second phase of their campaign.
