Romain Esse: Wrexham linked with Crystal Palace winger
England and Ivory Coast winger Romain Esse is being linked with a move from Crystal Palace to Championship club Wrexham.
The 21-year-old has yet to feature for Palace in the Premier League this season, with the club having played two possible matches by 31 August. Esse returned to Selhurst Park in May after spending the second half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan at Coventry City.
His loan spell ended with Coventry winning the Championship, while Esse remains a Palace player following his arrival from Millwall in January 2025. Palace paid €14.2m for the winger, who joined after progressing through Millwall’s academy.
Esse has also been part of a successful period at Palace, with the club winning the Conference League during the 2025-26 season. He is primarily a right winger and favours his left foot.
A move to Wrexham would see Esse switch from a Premier League club to a side competing in England’s second tier, although there is no indication that an agreement has been reached.
Esse’s contract at Crystal Palace runs until 30 June 2030, meaning any potential transfer would involve a player who remains tied to the club for four more seasons.
