Sweden international forward Robin Quaison is being linked with a return to boyhood club AIK, with the free agent reportedly on the radar of the Allsvenskan side.
The 32-year-old centre-forward is currently without a club after leaving Greek outfit Aris Thessaloniki, and Swedish reports suggest AIK are weighing up a move to bring him back to Solna. The rumour, logged on 23 December, lists the probability of a deal only as “?”, underlining that talks, if any, are at an early and uncertain stage.
Quaison’s current estimated market value stands at €800k, a figure that could make him an attractive short-term option for AIK as a free agent, with no transfer fee required. However, there is no indication yet of concrete negotiations, agreement on personal terms or contract length, and no suggestion of when any potential deal might be concluded.
Born in Stockholm on 9 October 1993, Quaison came through AIK’s youth ranks, progressing from AIK U17 to AIK U19 before breaking into the first team in 2011. A move to Palermo followed in 2014, then a switch to the Bundesliga with Mainz in 2017, where his market value peaked at around €13m in 2020 on the back of strong performances in Germany’s top flight.
In 2021 he joined Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, before his value began to decline as he moved away from Europe’s major leagues, dropping from €7.5m in early 2022 to €2.8m by mid-2024. A stint at Aris Thessaloniki saw that figure fall further to €1m by May 2025, before his latest valuation as an unattached player.
Comfortable as a central attacker and right-footed, Quaison’s experience in Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia and Greece, combined with his Swedish and Ghanaian background, would add a seasoned, international profile to AIK’s forward line. If the move materialises, a return to Allsvenskan could offer him a platform to relaunch his career and reshape the final chapter of his professional journey.
